Harrison Gray Otis is reelected mayor of Boston.
December 14, 1829
Otis (F) defeats all others by a margin of 1,844 to 122 to be reelected to his second consecutive term as mayor. Due to an attack of gout, Otis and the Board of Aldermen are sworn in at his home at 45 Beacon Street on January 5, 1829, the only time the ceremony is held in a private home.
